Naijadrift gave word about the new 2013 Volkswagen’s
entering the Nigerian market late last month. Well, we’ve come up with more
info as regards the pricing of these new rides. I stated in the last report
that the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta had a very good looking exterior similar to that
of the elder brother the Passat, except that the interior wasn’t as good
looking. Well as I realized, that particular interior with the bland looking
radio was for the base model Jetta, the higher trimmed Jetta has pretty much
the same centre console as that of the newer Passat with a much better looking
infotainment system.

| Engine bay of the 2013 VW Jetta |
As usual, the 2013 Jetta carries over its 1.6litre engine
“with a new inlet manifold” and a six speed automatic transmission. The base
model comes standard with an automatic transmission, 15” alloy wheels, air
conditioning, radio with CD player and auxiliary audio jack, keyless entry,
central locking and a N3.9Mill starting price, N300k cheaper than the base
Honda Civic. The full options add 16” alloys, an upgraded type of radio with CD
player, dual zone air conditioning, electronic parking brakes, front and rear
disc brakes, front, rear and side airbags and an N4.2Mill price tag.
The 2013 Passat returns basically unchanged with the
turbocharged 1.8 litre engine and the 7 speed automatic transmissions. Trim
levels remain the same except that now, you can get keyless ignition without
opting for the full options, and parking sensors now come standard. Options on
the new Passat include the upgraded electronic parking assist which can
actually park the car itself “I’ve not had the chance to test this yet but I’m
sure it works”, dual zone airconditioning, a more powerful turbocharged 1.8
litre engine, a sunroof and keyless ignition. The official starting price for
the 2013 Passat is now N5.2Mill.

| Interior of the 2013 CC |
Big changes however come for the 2013 Passat CC. First it
has been renamed as a separate model from the Passat so it’s now plainly called
the CC. The 2013 Volkswagen CC comes with a more linear and direct look,
cutting off most of the curves that made the 2012 CC stand out from it’s
rivals. While this new look makes the CC look bolder, I always thought the
point for this car was to make it look sexy like the Mercedes CLS; anyway na
Volkswagen sabi.
The 2013 Volkswagen CC now comes with LED front and rear
lights which is a big improvement from last years model. Like the Volkswagen
Passat, more features have been added and spread around and you don’t have to
opt for the full options before you get the keyless ignition. The official starting
price for the new 2013 CC is N6.3Mill.
Volkswagen’s compact SUV, the Tiguan also returns to 2013
majorly unchanged with prices starting at N5.3Mill.
